The Geopolitics of Energy and Energy Security Workshop

The Geopolitics of Energy and Energy Security Workshop took place at the IDN - Instituto da Defesa Nacional, on January 12, 2017. It was a closed seminar, inserted in the planned activities of the project “The Geopolitics of Gas and the Future of Euro-Russian Relation” (Geo4Ger) - FCT - PTDC/IVC-CPO/1295/2014.

In addition to the Geo4Ger's research team, the workshop was attended by invited experts from the academic, political, business and security sectors, who sought to debate and question the concept of energy security and the geopolitical dynamics at a global level and in the Euro-Russian relation. It was structured in two panels. The first "Geopolitics of Energy and Energy Security" analysed and discussed the concept of energy security. The second "Geopolitics of Gas in the Europe-Russia Relation" analysed the global dynamics of geopolitics that affect or may affect the Euro-Russian relation with regard to energy security.
